Which clay mask is right for you?

In Skin Care 0 comment

Have you ever wondered why people have been slathering mud in their face for thousands and thousands of years?

You haven't? well you should, because this can teach you a very important lesson: people had amazing skin with much less trouble and struggle than what we are going through today!

#facts.

which clay mask is right for you

That's why i want to talk to you about clay masks, because if there is one thing i believe in, is that skin care doesn't need to take hours of your days, or a manual on layering 4 different products on your face.

So, let's say "Hey girl" to the clay masks (I usually don't say Hey girl, but clay masks make me happy!)

I mean, they are like a multitasking mineral master. they can suck up all the yucky stuff from your skin, along with any excess oils that would just sit around and cause clogged pores, they can also heal the skin (yes, they can!), exfoliate gently and just make your skin look, uh-mazing.

And that fresh feeling after a face mask? You can't beat it!

Now I know what you might be thinking:

But clays masks are not for my skin,

clay masks are messy,

I don't have time for that.

And I hear you, again and again, but one, there is a clay mask for every skin type (although I have my issues with skin types),

two, they are only messy when you don't have the proper tips (which I got for you!),

and three, you absolutely have time, because if i can run a business, homeschool my kids, make lunch and still find time to put on mask, you can do it too! (ok, I don't always make lunch, but still, you can make time!)*

So, which masks for which skin?

I am going to make it real simple to get you started on this, so I went ahead a made a little table:

Normal skin

Dry skin

Oily

Sensitive/mature

Rhassoul

Kaolin Clay

Bentonite

Kaolin

French Green Clay

Rhassoul

French Green Clay

Rhassoul Clay

 Chocolate clay mask

Rose Clay

Fuller's Earth

Rose Clay

Chocolate Clay Mask

So now you know that depending on your skin type, there will be a mask that meets your needs!

(Scroll to the bottom to read a breakdown on each type of clay)

ok, easy part is done! now let's get to the action plan:

Because yes, we have the right mask for your skin type, but we now want to get in on our faces, right?

Here is my most-favorite, super relaxing face mask tip:

Are you ready?

Apply your mask in the shower!

Yup, that's how you solve the time problem and the messy problem.

boom! Now let's break it down:

1.Choose a day of the week to make it your "self care day" (I choose fridays, because it's sunnah and it's a day where i like to take things slower.

2. Make sure your masks packets (or Jar) are in the bathroom, (don't think you will remember it, because you will get in the shower and realize when it's too late that you came in empty handed!)

3. Mix and apply the mask before you get in the shower, (you can do this, by either mixing the clay mask straight in your hands, or by having a little bowl and brush, whichever makes you feel better.....(watch the video below to see this in action!

 4. Take a relaxing shower, and when you are done, simply wash it off! (no mess, no stress, and your face will say YES!)

 So, there you go!

A super simple, mess free, you-can-totally-make-it-happen weekly mask routine that will have your skin refreshed and glowing!!

Hope you like this! and now you can read a bit more about each type of clay, and fall even more in love with them!

Clay masks

Kaolin Clay is a very fine and light clay, with mild absorption properties which makes it better for dry to normal skin.

It helps stimulate circulation to the skin, cleans and exfoliates and since it does not draw oils from the skin, it's an ideal clay for dry and sensitive types.

This would be the kind of clay mask I would recommend as a great way to start getting to know masks, or as one of those that can be use more often than the other more oil-absorbing masks.

FRENCH GREEN CLAY MASK

French Green Clay, this is a clay that means business when it comes to sucking oils, toxic substances, and impurities from your skin. At the same time, its toning action stimulates the blood on your face, giving you a more youthful appearance.

If you have a pimple that has flared up, French Green clay is the one for the job, you can use it daily as a spot treatment to help clear up blemishes, or use it weekly to keep your skin clean, balanced and purified.

This is the one I like to keep for those special Self-care days when I want a spa feel and a really deep cleansing.

CHOCOLATE MASK

Bentonite Clay is a well known clay that is not only good for the face, but the body as well. It contains minerals like Iron, sodium, calcium and magnesium, all originated from volcanic ash.

It is excellent at oil absorption, which makes it ideal for oily skin.

When adding water to the clay, it gives a negative electric charge, which in turn, removes toxins from the body, how amazing, right?

And what is even better is that I have made the Chocolate Clay mask, which draws on the amazing benefit of Bentonite Clay, the antioxidant from the Cacao powder and the Moisture from the milk powder, talk about an amazing combination!

rhassoul clay

Rhassoul Clay is one of my personal favorites, it is so effective yet so gentle. Great for all skin types and with a higher percentage of Silica and magnesium than other clays which makes it that much better at improving, healing and cleansing the skin.

Originating from the Atlas mountains in Morocco, this clay is so gentle it can be used daily as a cleanser and it won't dry up your skin!

As you can see, clay masks can work in different ways, so you might not always have to choose only one!

Thanks for reading, JazakAllah khair!
