Apples are red,
Some berries are blue,
I've got fruit on my face,
Wanna try some too?
You should!
And if you are looking for a great anti-aging mask, then look no further than the blueberry! This is a fruit that is small in size, but big in benefits. In case you are new on my blog, this is a post in the Fruit Lab, a series of videos and posts where I show you my favorite ways to get fruit on your face, Now let's talk about blueberries and why they are so amazing! Not only do they have the highest antioxidant capacity of any fruit but they are full of Vitamin A, which helps:
- Acne scars
- It Minimizes wrinkles by stimulating the layer of the skin where the Collagen and Elastin are.
- And they also have Vitamin C, which together with the Antioxidants, help to neutralize the free radicals that can cause so much cell damage, and this cell damage leads to saggy skin, wrinkles and early signs of aging.
So a boost of Blueberries, both internally and externally, can give you better skin, and can help reverse and prevent these signs of aging. So now that you know why Blueberries are so amazing, it's time you start including a purple-blue mask in your skin care routine! And how do you actually go about that?
Well that is the best part!
Because when it comes to getting fruit on your face, there is no wrong way to do it, and there are so many places to choose from, you could use:
the pulp,
or the juice,
get some baby food,
and even use fruit powders!
Something I like doing is just working with what i have!
So if I am eating some fruit, I will simply put some on the side and save it to use as a mask, now I don't do this all the time, but on those days when I want to do something nice for my skin, I will usually look at what I have available in my fridge and take it from there!
So for this blog I had fresh blueberries on hand, and I mixed them with the Clay masks, because this way, I can get the benefits from the fruits and the mask!
And when i mix them together, it makes it so much easier to apply.
One of the things i I have learned from my fruit experiments is that , when it comes to fresh fruit that is juicy, the clay masks works great to hold everything together, that way, even applying the mask will feel so nice and relaxing, instead of being messy and drippy, which will take out all the fun of a Diy mask!
I started with a few blueberries and adjusted until I get the consistency that I liked, it took a few more blueberries than I originally planned, but even with that, it was no more than 1/4 cup worth.
And the reason why I choose the Purifying Clay and Oat mask is because the gentleness and cleansing properties of the clay match really well with the Antioxidant and anti aging benefits of the blueberry.
After you reach the consistency that you prefer, you can apply it all over your face (and neck ) sit back, relax, leave it on until you see the Clay starts to dry (about 5 to 10 min).
Afterwards, rinse with cool water and enjoy a healthier and glowing skin, and if you have leftover you can definitely store in the fridge and use within four to five days.
Personally, I like to use a small bowl so I can make enough for just on application, that way I apply my masks in it's most fresh state!
So now that you know why Blueberries are so amazing, why you should put them on your face, (and how to do it), I hope that you give it a try and do let me know how it goes, in sha Allah!!
